Damn, Sam. I thought we were heading through to the other side. Now it just looks like you're going on without us. That's just hard.

I am glad that coaching is taking his mind off the cancer, but I couldnt continue to coach I don't think. Course taking his mind off of it has probably raised his quality of life over what I would be doing. I still think about my mom all the time and this december 23rd will be 4 years. He has been a trooper but you have to wonder how much of last years team was inspiration and this years team is inspiration giving way to the reality of Sam's mortality.

I will cry when Sam dies for the memorie of my mom as well of the knowledge that he is leaving behind a family that includes children and they will never forget the pain of losing their parent. To us he is a football player that meant a lot, but to them he is and always will be Daddy.

I hope that if/when "that day" comes, the organization will do something that the fans can be part of (aside from cancer donations) to honor Sam.

    From Charlotte.com:

    • Long-snapper Jason Kyle, a part owner of Red Rocks in Birkdale Village, said the restaurant would hold a fund-raiser Monday night to benefit the Keep Pounding Foundation started by linebacker Mark Fields and linebackers coach Sam Mills.

Kyle said defensive back Jarrod Cooper and Smart were scheduled to be celebrity waiters. Proceeds from the event, which starts at 7:30, will benefit cancer research.

P.S. Wish I was coming into town sooner.

The liver is a big organ, and it can grow back if part of it is damaged. Wouldn't it matter how much of the liver was cancerous? If the chemo was stopping it (a huge assumption), he might still have a chance. I don't know anything here. Just asking a hopeful question. The body does things that are unknown to us all the time.

If there is ANYONE who can do this, it's Sam Mills!

He's a statue! He picked off Brett Favre in the NFC Championship game! He kept a hopelessly outmatched expansion team close in the NFC Championship game, if only for a half!

I love the quote from Mags "If I was cancer, I'd fear Sam Mills!"

I'm not a big fan of cancer, or Mags for that matter, but damnit, Sam's not giving up! I won't give up on him either. We can help him get through this, one way or the other. Sam has given us so much. Pray for Sam Mills. He, nay we, can do THIS!
