alright, maybe we've done this before, but exactly how much room do we have now? i assume we'll need what? 3-4 million to sign rookies in the draft? what do we have on top of that? i'm wondering if we are just freeing room for pep and smith and gross or does it look like we are creating room for something else?

We're about 7 mil under at this point according to an article I read. Pep's cap number this year is like 15 mil, extending him now in all likelyhood creates more room. I'm not quite sold on the fact we re-sign Gross. I wouldn't say he's a total bust, but as high as he was drafted you'd assume at least a Pro Bowl appearance. He hasn't been close. It'll come down to how much money he expects. I'd say we've left enough room for a move or two. Jolley and a vet S or MLB maybe.

I don't think there is much intention of redoing Peppers this year. That 15 mill for this year will eat into what we can give him if we spread it into the future. Getting clear of it will make it possible to offer more next year or whenever the deal comes.

Speaking of Peppers, did anyone notice that he made this list?

I remember when we played Detroit a couple of years ago and they put in the backup, I forget his name. I think it happened right before the end of the half. Peppers gets pushed around behind him and out of my TV screen. The QB rolls out to the left and then like a missile Peppers come from behind him to splatter him. Nasty.

Mike McMahan. Peppers was dominant that game as a rookie, a sign of good things to come to be sure.

Actually McMahon started that game Harrington got brought in after Peppers beat up McMahon early. That was near the beginning of the season and Harrington wasn't starting at that point. Rained like a sumbitch that game. That's the game the field got wet and because of it Peppers had red paint from the NFL sign. People were saying it looked like blood from the whippin he put on the Detroit boys.

Yeah I think Brain was right actually. Seems like McMahon started and was sacked twice by Peppers. That sack that was mentioned above was his third of the first half, and came against Harrington right before the end of the half. I remember thinking how impressed I was as they were the #2 and #3 picks, even though that hardly mattered. It was a hell of a sack though, but only because Harrington held onto the ball forever.
