Have lost back to back to TB and AZ. leaving them at 2-3, how many losses until Haslett becomes Hasbenn?

Typically the Saints lose most of their games at the end of the season and I hope that holds true this year with us having them twice in the last 5 weeks. Haslett has to be on the way out.

They have Minn. and Oak then the bye week. if they hit the bye at 2-5 Jim shouldn't answer his phone.

Fox doesn't have a history of underachieving.

    BENSON BOOTING HASLETT?

Though we tend to take anonymous tips with a proverbial (or, as they say in Pittsburgh, perverbial) grain of salt unless/until we can get some corroboration, every once in a while we get a feeling that our chain isn't being yanked by a reader who is offering up some unsolicited info.

It also nudges us closer toward going with a tip that comes in over (or is it under?) the transom when, as a practical matter, the story likely will break before we can confirm it.

With all that said, a reader has alerted us to the "fact" that Saints coach Jim Haslett is meeting at this hour with owner Tom Benson, and that there is speculation/worry/concern/looming jubilation in the Bayou that Benson could be bouncing Haslett in the wake of a two-game swing that took the Saints from 2-1 and full of promise to 2-3, and full of problems.

The losses, which came at the hands of the otherwise winless Turdinals and the otherwise winless Tampa Bay Turd Collectors, probably were viewed by many Saints fans (including the owner) as sure things.

It turns out they were. For the opposing teams.

We'll officially take no position as to whether or not we think Haslett will be fired now or at any point before the end of the season. But with Benson having a proven reputation for rash, impulsive decisions (see Randy Mueller) and with the team gradually declining since a stirring performance in Haslett's first season at the helm, we wouldn't be surprised to learn that Benson woke up this morning, took a dump, ate a grapefruit, and then decided it was time to make like Trump.

    Stay tuned.
