We had/have the talent to be agressive. And even when we weren't necessarily able, we still made it work, to the credit of those involved. It's more often when we hide in Fromunda that we fail. There's no argument to that.

    All good points.

Sometimes, I find myself actually cursing Henning for throwing on first down too much.

While we tend to be predictable on first down (if we got a first down we apparently didn't expect, or are coming in off a turnover, we tend to chuck deep for instance), I like throwing on first down as a decent ratio. While the downside is you're risking second and long, if you're looking to set up second and short/third and short, that's the best way. I don't like this offense in third and long, and that leaves throwing about 60% on first down as a good advantage, provided we're doing something short with RAC possibility.

Without Smith, we didn't have that RAC ability, and it took us too long to adjust to it.

Not having a back who could get good yardage on first and second down hurt us a lot too. Once we got that going with Goings we were a lot better.
