Sushi Menu + Grimm just made me giggle.

Whomever the hire, I believe JR has a vision, similar to yours, that a head coach is a CEO in his own right. He doesn't have to be articulate, good looking for the camera, or engaging with bitter sportswriters who have grumpy editors breathing down their necks for a story.

Fox did a good job with what he was asked to do--oversee the football operations, for the most part, and coach his coaches. In the end, it looks like he just wants a change, regardless of the money. But nobody knows but him, and he sure as fuck won't tell anybody else what he's thinking.

Schotty, Jr. would work, so long as a Callahan-type (experienced, smart, tough veteran playcaller) joins the staff and is the owner of said dinner menu.

Always loved Foxy's wrinkled-up laminated game sheet, tucked in the back pocket of his fat-ass Docker pants. Probably just a printout of recent Craig's List personals, wedged in-between each team's depth chart.

0_0 Oh God...Jim Caldwell is SHIT, man. I mean, pure SHIT as a HC. Fucking screwed the pooch w the Superbowl, and is coaching a very talented team into the dirt.

God, what would that piece of garbage be without Manning? I don't even want to know.

I'm just hoping the next coach doesn't decide to go the a 3-4 because that'd mean another throw away year.

Totally agree. Unfortunately there's legit reasons to suggest that all three realistic offensive candidates (Harbaugh, Grimm, baby Schottenheimer) have ties to the 3-4.

Harbaugh's is most recent (hired Vic Fangio as DC this year, moved to 3-4), but the other two are steeped in 3-4.

All those guys are offensive coaches though so maybe they are not too tied to the 3-4. I would be happy to see them keep Meeks. The defense is playing pretty well under him so I see no reason to make the players learn a new system or have to get rid of players and find new players to fit a new system.

We're not hiring a sexy name. And I don't think Grimm is an upgrade over Fox, but I'd be fine with him as a "stop-gap" HC during this labor mess. Whomever we hire is going to be very disposable. Get used to it.

Grimm's defensive counterpart is most definitely Ron Rivera, another guy who used to be hot and now is getting attention again. At this point I'd almost suggest there's a greater chance of hiring a former NFL player than not hiring one.
