And that absolves him of responsibility?

Might not be a bad idea to judge the offensive line coach/running game coord on how his offensive line and running game have played either.

Fair point. I just see more positives in Grimm's track record overall than negatives.

    Still rank my list as:

    1. Baby Schott
    2. Cap't Crunk
    3. Grimmy

There are many myths about the Panthers, particularly JR.

One myth, based exclusively in opinions by sports reporters, is that JR is not willing to spend much money on his next head coach.

I'm not willing to say that JR is going to spend a lot for an HC, but I have no information that would indicate that he wouldn't. Nor does Gantt, Reed, Shefter, or any other journalist.

Richardson doesn't talk. He hasn't said anything about anything, other than a few words to fellow owners about the potential lockout. He offered a short, sincere apology to the fans, via-Sorensen.

Nobody but JR knows what JR is going to do. As far as I'm concerned, unless that hideous palace in Quail Hollow is listed on the market, Fox will sign a deal in January and keep coaching. There's as much basis in that thinking as there is in saying that Richardson is going to spend no more than "X dollars" on a new coach.

5 game season. Play it out. After we got mouth-fucked by the Jets last November, I didn't envision we would beat Minnesota and the Giants by a combined margin of 67-16.

Expect a lot of shit that you don't expect.

However, unlike some that cover the team, I'm not a self-proclaimed god of football. So, if anyone can dig up any quote by the owner, or even Morrison/Hurney that would give any indication that they will look to hire a coach for a low price, please post it.

Otherwise, remember that this same owner paid a 60-something Super Bowl winner a lot of money to coach his team. It didn't end well, although he took a shitbag 1998 squad and had them one win short of the playoffs in 1999. He put Steve Beuerlein in the Pro Bowl, and if I'm not mistaken, we had 3 WR's with 1000-yard seasons, or damn near close to it (two of them were castoffs).

Nobody knows anything, and won't until January. All I hope for is a labor deal resolution by then, so we can move forward, with or without Fox.

Most people are not willing to form their own opinion. So they read something in the paper or online and take it as the gospel. There are a lot of things up in the air regarding the CBA situation. But i continue to believe that JR wants to win more than any of us and has never, until this year, been afraid to stroke huge checks to players or coaches. Even still, the payroll he slashed this year was largely made up of washed up veterans who either haven't made another roster or who haven't made a significant impact to their new team.

Now, if he goes out there and hires Tom Knotts to coach this team for 200 grand a year, we can call him cheap. Otherwise, i believe he will do his proper due diligence and hire the guy that he thinks is the best person to be the head coach.

I don't expect Fox to be the Panther's HC next season, though it would not surprise me, nor would I condemn it.

But if we keep that dumbfuck Jeff Davidson, I don't know if will be ale to take it. I don't expect JF to fire him if he retains the HC job. Fuck.

I am not suggesting that JR would go on the cheap, the talking ESPN head that tossed Grimm into the ring did to a certain extend, saying Grimm could be gotten cheap.

something that is going to come into play here too is the job openings.

Right now I won't be surprised if Garrett is retained for the Boys, clearly they are playing for him.

Frazier at Minny is still early to say but he could stay there as well.

then there is the potential openings

    Carolina
    Cincinnati
    Denver
    San Fran
to name a few of course there is always the surprise or two

I am convinced either Fischer or Young will be gone in Tenn
if it's Fischer he won't even have his desk cleaned out before a job is offered

    Wait! I found it!

    http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post?id=31635

Yaz says it, so it's true. He was "burned" by Siefert, so that automatically eliminates any human being that has ever held the title of Head Coach in the NFL. Also, nice contradiction with the last sentence--we have a pissy fan base who wants to get charged up.........with a low-dollar assistant.

Again, this is a perfect example of how little the media actually understands and reports truth vs. innuendo. I know it's their job to create a story, and it's not a bad hypothesis that JR would be gunshy to hire a "big name" because we went 1-15 under Siefert.

Just remember. We've started 3-8, 1-7, 4-7, 0-3 in four various seasons under Fox. In case we forgot, Fox was a cheap hire, and he's now commanding the ship for a depressingly bad 1-10 team. All facts, not opinions.

I don't know who the right guy is, but I have a good idea what's important to the success of the 2011 Panthers:

    1. A HC who is detail-oriented, organized as shit, can evaluate talent and can work in harmony with Morrison and Hurney.

    2. An OC who has been an OC before, has shown a track record of game-plan installations that work, and an accompanying offensive staff who have tenure and some level of intellect.

    3. Retention of Skipper, Meeks, Baker and the rest of the defensive staff.

    4. The removal of Matt Moore.

    5. The addition of a capable, healthy veteran QB, whether it's via-trade or via-FA. Just need someone who has proven he can step in, throw good passes, and not spazz out. There's a few out there.

    6. Retain Jeff Rodgers. Yes, and go fuck yourself if you don't like my opinion.

    7. Assuming he completes the season with some momentum, go into camp with Clausen as your clear-cut starter.

    8. Trade your top-5 pick down and hoard some picks. My god, in case you haven't paid attention, we picked up, post-RD1, two starting-caliber WR (LaFell and Gettis), a very promising DE with ST skills (Hardy), another promising DB with ST skills (Pugh), a backup QB (Pike). Edwards, Norwood--jury's out. I would have like to have seen more from Norwood in the defensive packages, much like Davis was used down the stretch in 2005, but Meeks has a different scheme, so that's cool. Edwards: nobody knows shit, other than he dropped a lot of punts in the pre-season. He's never going to be a QB, and shouldn't be. He can be used in a fashionable way, if you coach him into that role and help him execute. But we don't need Andrew Luck, in my humble opinion, to begin to build a championship-level team again.

    9. Free agents to send packing: Davis, Marshall, King. I'm not a capologist, but I would assume this would assist in the process of adding pieces where most needed (DL depth, OL depth, vet QB). I would also prepare for Kasay's future--I wouldn't cut him, but he's had injury issues in the past, and he's post-40. Retirement could be in his head.

    10. Free agents to retain/pursue: DW (he wants to be here, he's very good at what he does, and he's been a force.). Chuck Johnson, Anderson, Rosario. From the outside, much will be dictated by the new staff and their approach/needs, but if it were my team (lol), here's a few quality names that would fit into a relatively modest budget: Seneca Wallace, Ike Taylor (CB), Jerome Felton (FB), Daryn Colledge (OG), Matt Bryant (K).

Sorry to bore the living shit out of everyone :computer::computer:
