Yeah, just look at that running game he's coordinating in Arizona.

He's a former player and that may hold weight, and I feel like they want an O guy.
Has Steeler and Skin ties that matter to the organization.
    Not my guy though.

I can't get fired up about Grimm, I think the offense would be like watching paint dry

True but he does not have much to work with out there. He did a good job with it in Pittsburgh.

    Let's see,
O-Line background, likes to run the ball and "ground and pound",
Currently coaches on a losing team,
The Rooney's love him , but hired somebody else themselves...
Why not just promote Jeff Davidson to HC ?

Seriously, anybody advocating this needs to have their brains blown out.

Again, open note to Richardson: The moves you make next season will make or break this franchise for the next decade. Don't screw it up by trying to do it "on the cheap", or you will become the next Charlotte Bobcats.

Much of this comes down to the coach who can wrangle the best staff. I would want, clearly, a new offensive coordinator with considerable experience. I would also, in the case of Grimm being the guy, retain Skipper, and as much of the defensive staff as possible.

Grimm would keep things fairly simple, which is not a bad thing. Keeping things simple is ok, but when you're keeping things simple and failing to execute, it's not a good thing. Fox's offensive staff has done a horrible job with regards to quality assurance, and what's stunning is to see the offensive veterans almost taking a year off.

The staff is what really matters here. Grimm has been an associate HC, OL coach, and was reportedly Rooney's boy to take over when Cowher retired and Whiz left. Funny--he was fucked over by his own "rule" and went with Tomlin, which worked out.

No worries--Dick LaBeau runs that shit.

Oh, and as long as we're pulling shit out of the air, Joe Gibbs probably would like some sort of consultant seat with the organization, and seeing how he's local and has a pretty good idea on how to architect a winning team, might not be a bad idea to listen.

The fact that he coaches on a losing team in 2010 is not really a factor. I mean, yes, they suck--but they have shitty, fumble-prone HB's, no QB, and the worst defense in the NFL.

Grimm, as an offensive line coach, has been to the playoffs 6 times, been to 3 conference title games and a Super Bowl.

As a player, well, he won a lot of shit.

I'll put the pom-pom's down now, but jesus christ, we're judging Grimm on Arizona's sieve of a defense and hailstorm of interceptions from their inept QB's?

Any offense will work if you have a competent QB. Figuring out our future at QB is more important, IMHO, than who the next coach will be. If we bring Grimm in and find a solid QB, either on our roster or via trade, free agency or the draft we will be OK.

    I promise.

If you hire an offensive coordinator that's not named Jeff Davidson, you will see a 4-5 PPG increase, even with the same personnel.

You could always aim higher, and I'm sure JR will.

Personally, I could give a shit who the HC is. I'm much more intrigued with our OC, OL Coach, WR Coach--obvious positional coaches that will probably need to be filled. Go ahead and pay Skipper.

Or, as long as the job of an HC is to motivate, organize, administer responsibility--just hire Skipper. He's cheap, he's universally liked, and for a decade, he's been Fox's brain.
