I like Trgo because his players like him. Alot. And as a fan, that's good enough for me.

That, and the fact that his unit in 3rd in the NFL in yards allowed, and 2nd in takeaways.

Per John Riggins on Sirius NFL Radio, Broncos OC Gary Kubiak will be the first to interview for the vacant Houston Texans HC job.

makes sense. He has ties to the area, and he's an offensive guy who's certainly waited his turn.

Fox Sports has Brad Childress and Giants DC Tim Lewis being interviewed, in GB. Lewis most likely because he's the minority candidate, IMO he's not that good of a DC. Childress will also interview in MN. Pat Shurmur, nephew of legendary DC Fritz, is their QBs coach, and at 40, already has 16 combined years of pro and college coaching and would likely take over, assuming Childress takes Mornhinweg (which I imagine Reid would allow - I wouldn't want him as Childress' replacement and it lets them all bow out of the situation gracefully). If I'm Childress, I'd probably rather have GB.

Favre wants Mooch, supposedly, and IMO that's a good fit - and would keep Bates in place at DC, too.

Kinda surprised that Mooch, Martz aren't interviewing. Especially for a job like KC's. They've each had time to regroup, they're each experienced winners.

    Coaching rumors from ESPN Insider

    Edwards jetting to K.C.?
<Jan. 4> WFAN is reporting that the Jets and Chiefs are discussing a compensation package that would allow Herman Edwards to take over as Kansas City's head coach. Because Edwards has two years remaining on his contract, the Chiefs would have to give the Jets compensatory draft picks to acquire Edwards.
In a press conference on Jan 3, Chiefs president Carl Peterson wouldn't say if he plans to seek permission from the Jets to talk to Edwards, but he didn't exactly shoot down the rumors either.

"I am not going to comment on that speculation or who I am talking to, who I may talk to or who I may not talk to," Peterson said. "I just would prefer to keep that confidential."

Newsday, crediting the NFL Network, reported in today's editions that the Jets and Chiefs are discussing a deal.

"They're going on, and people in your building know that they're going on," a source from the NFL Network told Newsday regarding the talks. "Right now there is absolutely smoke and fire."

Mike Singletary Lions Singletary on Lions' list
<Jan. 4> The Lions have contacted Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary about their vacant coaching job, The Associated Press is reporting.
Singletary, an assistant with the 49ers, confirmed that the Lions have spoken to him, but said an interview has yet to be scheduled. Singletary is also considered a possible candidate in Green Bay, but the Packers have not contacted him.

The 2005 season was Singletary's first in San Francisco. Prior to that, he spent two years as the Ravens' inside linebackers coach.

My question is if John Gruden was worth 2 1st round picks what would the Jets want for a coach that had what 5 wins this year?

The Lions are after two different position coaches - Singletary and Russ Grimm.

    It's just strange.

Why do the Jets not want Herm Edwards? I can see why Herm would want out, but I don't get why the Jets want him out. He'd fit very well in KC, which should have a largely intact coaching staff if he wants it (and, IMO, a very, very good staff with a light spot here or there). Plus, Edwards might be able to make enough of that defense to allow them to get a real receiver in there.

Per Sirius KC would not give up a pick for Herm. It should be between Alex Saunders and Bob Stoops at OU.

I think Herm wants out more than anything.
