Wow. I thought they might be firing Billick to elevate Rex Ryan.

That's bigtime. Ryan will be immediately coveted, and of course a guy like Billick would also be able to really, really easily get a job saying "well, I can get all the good guys I had over there." Interviews, besides showing competent ability to organize a team, being personable, and showing the direction the owner wants, is essentially all networking. "I can get this guy, this guy, and this guy. I know I can, and this will make us a better team." Owners want that guy who can put together the staff other guys will covet. They want a team in place while the 49ers are still putzing around for a head coach. They want a team in place before the Senior Bowl while the leftovers are looking for jobs.

The Ravens still plan to interview Ryan from what I've read.

Has Ryan ever done anything other than 3-4 defenses?

They've played a 4-3 these last two years I think. But yeah he's known for his 3-4 hybrid stuff

They do mix things up. I don't follow them closely enough to know for sure, but according to their depth chart on NFL.com, it's a 34 set-up. We have some versitile guys who could do okay with Ryan, but I'm still fine with Trgo.

His brother, Rob, has also been shitcanned.

    edit: presidence99 is the shit

Either Ryan would be a very good pickup for any team. DC will be a very interesting and loaded place for a HC putting a team together. For instance, I'd not be especially pleased to see, say, Marty Schottenheimer with a Ryan in ATL.

On the other hand, there's a total of one good coordinator available, and unfortunately that's Mike Martz.

Lewis said the same things more or less, but it's Lewis' team to say that. Guess it's a certainty Bratkowski's out. Zampese, though?
    Also, Alexander is awesome.

If we were looking for a special teams coach, Simmons is a guy we know, obviously.
