Beleaguered division foe that'll come up consistently.

Just hired a GM - took Pats exec Tom Dimitroff as GM, and theoretically with ultimate power. Now they can hire a coach, and I'm going to guess that this makes it less likely they go get an aging guy like Schottenheimer.

They got him, huh? Hadn't seen that yet. Shit.

Possibilities as HC? Smith, Caldwell still? Hm.

It looks like the market for Martyball has dried up. He was one of the first they talked to. There's Schwartz, and Spagnuolo will be available after the day most likely. I take Caldwell as a legit candidate at this point, being as how he's considered a candidate for the supposed succession of Tony Dungy. I don't remember if they interviewed the two Cowboys assistants or not, but Garrett would probably stay if Sparano goes to the Dolphins as expected.

Common speculation is that they got a NE guy to go get McDaniels to be HC, but I really don't see why people are pursuing him. He's still young, and while he could be a very good HC in the future, I'm just not of the mind that he has the connections to pull off an Atlanta type rebuild.

PFT has an interesting take on Dimitroff, but don't know what weight it carries.

They need a leader. McDaniels might be a great offensive mind, but he doesn't seem like a guy who can command a locker room. Singletary would really be a great hire for them. I don't think he's been a great assistant or anything, but he would bring some wonderful leadership qualities, and he would give that team some credibility moving foward.

From what I hear, Schottenheimer would kill a hobo to be with the Ravens (not that there's anything amazing or difficult about killing a hobo).

The key is where you hide the body- no one will be looking for a hobo but you better be sure that shit ain't gonna be dug up.

I hang them in the closet.

Smell is tolerable if you use mothballs.

I'm not sure any o us are able to guage McDaniel's leadership abilities at this point, but I do agree that he's too young. He has a lot of weapons on that team, and its easy to look good when you have Brady throwing Moss and co..

I agree though, that Singletary would bring instant credibility though, and would probably be a fantastic leader that would get players going all out for him. I, or one, don't want him anywhere near the Falcons, beause as it stands, I like him. I don't want to start hating the ************.

Just an observation from an outsider's perspective. Looks like a guy who's pretty wrapped up in his side of the ball, and not necessarly capable of running an entire football team. That could change over time, but I don't think he's someone you want to hire right now.

Killing a hobo is my line. :beatnik: Schottenheimer should want that job - it has everything he'd need. A DC who has a system in place, elite defensive talent; a line, and a great back in the making. Whether he can get QB play is another thing.

Agreed on McDaniels. He's a guy who'll have to fail with a team to be great on the next attempt.
