I've heard Ruck give credit to Reggie, which is cool, but Gilbert? How the fuck does that work? Ruck, for a right end, sticks his nose in the pile a lot more than Gilbert ever did. He bullrushes to stay at home, he keeps his gap, he makes his plays on technique. How Gilbert is involved in any of that, is beyond me.

It's not like Gilbert wasn't a hustle player, and to a point I'm sure he was tough. But he couldn't play the run at all, never got penetration, and never bullrushed. What the hell's the point of having him in?

i've heard him give the same props to Gilbert before, in another interview. Basically, if I recall correctly, he credited Gilbert with teaching him how to set up moves, as well as a variety of different techniques. He said that he learned all of from both White and Gilbert, so i dont know how much came from each individual. But he was very complimentary of Gilbert when I heard him

Maybe he learned from Gilbert how to disappear from time to time., but Smith was a monster before he came here.
