Had say, Willis done the same thing, or Nate Clements, I seriously doubt that Singletary would have made an example out of him. He took his frustrations out on a guy who, is his opinion, was a multiple time screw up. And perhaps a guy he saw as expendable. I don't think this is something you can go to the well with very often at all.

Not saying I like that. Didn't like that aspect of Parcells, though it worked for him.

One of the things I like about Fox is that, for the most part, he keeps his criticisms out of the front page. Newspaper men don't like that about him (as opposed again to a media king like Parcells), but Fox gained most players respect this way. Keep the discipline and harsh words in house.

Look at the Smitty situation. There was discipline, 2 games which some people in the media thought overly harsh for a star player. But he really didn't critisize him publically at all.

It will be interesting to see how the team reacts now. If they rally around him, or if there is more division. As a fan, I liked hearing the honesty and emotion of Mike's words. But had Fox done something like that to, say, Gamble for doing something dumb when he was a young player, he may not be the player he is now.

Not consistently, but he did get worked up about some of the TO stuff. Also "She" Glenn.

What has Vernon Davis done that is so horrible? Look what he's been surrounded with. He's one of the few players on offense who might actually help you win a game or two this year, so I wouldn't throw him under the bus like this.

I think it's pretty simple - Mike blew up and got carried away.

And I think it can be bad for a team if you set different standards of conduct for different players.
