If they would have brought it out that they tried to keep him, wanted to keep him, but he wouldn't budge, I for one certainly would have been more understanding. As opposed to laughing, it's fluid, distraction, diminishing skills, blah blah blah. Still paying him, he is snapped up and kicks ass from day one.

 

His salary was what it was for this season, and we could have cut him/restructured next spring. Kelvin's performance doesn't validate Gettleman's reckless decision to release Steve Smith. The two of them together would have been awesome.

 

In other words:


-- Drafting Benjamin = Good Decision (so far)

-- Cutting Smith = Bad Decision


Two different decisions, two different evaluations. One doesn't excuse or validate the other. I'm also not ready to anoint Benjamin as the next great thing. Roy Williams looked pretty amazing early in his career. One good game doesn't make a career.

Anointing is one thing, but he sure looks like a keeper. As far as good decision by our resident morbidly obese yankee carpetbagging dick swinger, it was sort of an easy one given the way the draft fell. Still a good one though.

Oh I'm very excited about him, don't get me wrong. Hopefully it lasts.

 

I love that he plays angry.

 

Godfrey and DeCoud suck. I'll have more on that later.
