Jake's not the reason Colbert and Gardner suck, considering part time hands like Proehl and Foster have outperformed.

His ability to hit multiple second option receivers in a game. Go ahead and throw stats that he hit x number of receivers in this game or that game. The point is that, before a play begins, it appears he is set as to who he will throw to, if that person is covered, all hell breaks loose.

There's certainly a change in that when, for instance, Carter or Proehl is in the game. Undoubtedly, he's too easily locked on, sure.

Nonetheless, when he has a decent safety valve, he uses it some. Not always enough, but some.

And I guess I'm not actually finding a connection between "I'm tired of throwing to Colbert and seeing bad things happen" and "Fuck, Jake is stupid." At least in the realm of things that don't involve ragging Jake.

bad, terrible decisions over and over ='s a poor mind. i mean, that just doesn't even seem questionable. i really assumed it went without saying.

the ahh durrrrrrrrr part was me ragging, but just for fun. i still like jake, i just wish he didn't play for the panthers.

How many passes would you consider legit drops against Dallas by Carter and Colbert? At least a few from where I was sitting.

    More than a few.

Jake's had his bad games. Last week wasn't one. He put us in position to win. And went through his reads very well.

Their have been times when he hasn't made great decisions, and he's locked on. But he's proven on more than one occassion the ability to read and disect a defense. The pass to Prohel he went through his progressions and looked off a safety, which allowed RP the space to get in the endzone. Buck's just venting.

A whopping two catches for 23 yards. One was a rub play where he got some rac. The other was a screen for 1 whole yard.

Hardly some sort of breakout game.

IMO, Gardner never had the chance to stack up against Proehl or Foster. So that is either on Jake, the coaching staff or Gardner not learning the offense like he should, I don't think of us really know at this point. No, Gardner has never been an elite WR, so I don't want anybody to think that is what I am saying. But he has had few years that are better than any of our other WRs (other than Smith) have had this year.

I know we all have been down this road with Gardner this year. I just don't know if I buy into he isn't smart or isn't doing this or that without giving him a fair chance. He has had decent success in the past, and it's not like he is RP age. I am also not saying he was even close to perfect in the limited time he was on the field here, but imo with very limited game time, I would think that added a lot of pressure to him when he was out there.

My point about Jake was that he tends to use one target and that's it at times. Take Proehl as an example, from what I recall this year, several times he would throw to Proehl in bunches. I could be wrong, but I just don't ever recall Jake spreading the ball around anywhere near consistantly. It could all be the play calling, and not Jake for that matter. Just stating some observations that I have had.
