yeah, it's not official (it's why I asked, because when I was out last night it suddenly popped up that he had interviewed and was the frontrunner). It does seem to be that he had been their guy and while I won't say they were waiting for McCoy to go, it didn't take long to get him in.

he seems not to have many negatives other than pro experience. But getting to be assistant head coach, having past head coaching and college administrating experience is a good sign. Yes, there's always the hope he can take the inconsistencies out of Delhomme.

they said it was pretty likely. Since a move didn't happen mid-day, I wasn't sure if they were interviewing Chryst, or had someone else in mind; or whether we were going to have to wait on the 49ers' OC job to wrap up, or the Jets/Raiders jobs.

I feel solid about it. Maybe not my first choice without thinking about it, but I had no negatives. He's got a good pedigree, and experience with what our OC does. I think he's a good coach, and probably better than what we had this year. He has OC experience, head coach experience, and he's a guy our OC can rely on.

I wonder if we're done? I guess it depends on Tim Lewis with the DC job in GB, or what Herm does (if there's any truth to that), or if we get change at the ST coordinator, but we could be done. I'm hoping for a third-tier offensive assistant or two (quality control, assistant line coach).

Capers got the DC job in Green Bay. PFT reported it.

Here's the CPD article on Scherer: Scherer to Panthers

didn't know Capers had it. Good for him, I guess. Do still like McCarthy and staff, but he's been behind the 8-ball with staff leaving and then this defensive turnover.

So, Scherer. Funny, you'd figure that him being somewhat high profile, including a gig as assistant head coach/QBs coach on a team that had quarterback controversy each of the last two years, was a head of college programs for a decade, that this thread would be #15 in the google search of his name and almost everything would be recent.

People might not be looking much to Cleveland for coaching hires since the team as a whole stunk.

yeah, but the idea that there's nothing out there at all, other than a few articles on him as he was on his way out in Memphis praising him as a person and saying he couldn't recruit, I don't get it. I do know that Crennel didn't really have coaches talk to media much, and that Cleveland media isn't very good.

it doesn't mean anything, at all, but you'd like to see more information.
