I was thinking it would be the fantasy players doing the window jumping.

But, yeah, I'd be pissed if I took a flyer on Miami earlier this summer.

Edit: Damn. A grand? I just caught that. I'd kill the dude over a grand.

What pisses me off is that he is in Asia looking for the truth, passed TRB right up. Shit fire Ricky we have the truth here. Some of these locals can grow buds like you wouldn't believe. Blends, the whole truth nothing but the truth.

Who is to say Bunky's lead sandwich makers job isn't as important or more important than Ricky Williams. The sandwich guy is feeding people. Ricky is entertaining.

not to mention if the sandwich maker walked out during lunch Bunky is fucked....Miami has time to get another RB....just not as good...oh well.

Note to self. Don't let kshead catch you scamming him. Killing threshold is at least $1,000.

Timing - yeah this timing sucks for Miami, especially with George just being on the market. On the other hand, it's better that he did it now than later, say at the begining of the season or, like someone we all love and know (sarcasm, for those of you who need early warning), several games into the season.

It's his right to walk away, as long as he repays anything that is written into the contract that should be repaid. On the other hand, it's each person's rights to think whatever they want of him as result of his retirement. Maybe some of you guys with more journalism experience can speak to this more. Aren't there laws written that basically give "stars" or public figures less rights to privacy? Particularly, what might qualify as slander towards someone who is not normally a public figure might be fair game on a public figure? I seem to recall something along those lines.

Hmm...from what I'm reading in various articles, Ricky told Wannstedt of his decision to retire on Friday, while Eddie George and Antowain Smith were still on the open market. Atleast, that's what Clark Judge of Sportsline.com says:

In mentioning veteran RBs available, he states "In fact, two were last Friday when Williams notified Wannstedt of his decision. But by the close of business both Eddie George (Dallas) and Antowain Smith (Tennessee) had signed with other clubs, leaving the free-agent shelves empty at running back. "

From PFT: MIAMI-AREA SCUTTLEBUTT ON WILLIAMS

We've got a few non-NFL sources on the ground in South Florida, and they've shared with us some of the local reaction to and insights regarding the surprise announcement that running back Ricky Williams will retire from pro football.

Part of the local speculation is that the Miami Herald knew about the decision prior to early Sunday, but that the newspaper held off on reporting the decision, either at the request of Williams, the team, or both. Coincidentally (or not), the Dolphins had a meet-and-greet event with fans on Saturday in connection with the sale of single-game tickets. It's possible, then, that the team wanted to keep this genie in the bottle in order to keep Saturday soiree from becoming a revolt.

On this point, the team is now explaining away its failure to disclose Williams' decision, which he shared with Dave Wannstedt on Friday, before the single-game tickets went on sale on Saturday.

If the Herald sat on the story, it was wrong from a journalistic perspective. The reality, however, is that this kind of stuff happens from time to time as local newspapers try to maintain good relations with the folks who are in position to give them info from inside the team's building. (We used to get riled up about this kind of stuff, but if nobody else seems to care, why should we?)

There's also some gossip in South Florida that Williams kept his intentions quiet until after the Eddie George situation had been resolved in order to give teammate Travis Minor the best shot at the job as the team's go-to back. It might seem a little far-fetched -- but it's not more implausible than the notion of a 27-year-old running back and team cornerstone announcing his retirement only days before training camp opens.

If I was on Ricky's team, I'd make 51 quick phones calls and we'd all meet up at Ricky's front door..."Waz up dawg?"
