    Dan Le Batard, of the Miami Herald, reports retired RB Ricky Williams is not concerned what other people think about his sudden retirement from the NFL. "Why should I?" he said late Sunday, July 25, by cellphone from Asia. "Does it matter? I don't care. It doesn't have anything to do with me anymore. No one can reach me, and that's how I want it. For what? For people to put more of their excrement on me? I'm OK without it, thanks. Why do people have to be so judgmental about this? I'm going in search of the truth. Everything I'm doing in my life now is about finding the truth. Football isn't part of the truth for me anymore." Williams also said he's prepared for a fallout from fans as well.

    :laugh1: He's not much of a "people person" is he? Who was that painter who moved to an island, lived with monkeys, smoked weed and painted nakid native chicks? Maybe THAT will become "part of the truth" for the Rickster.:D

    anger's a bit much. I think it's shitty of him to do so, but he does have the right. Being as how I hate the Fins, and really never liked RW in the first place, I'm actually feeling good about this.

    It broke down into several camps on all three shows I heard.

    The team got screwed.
    Fuck Miami, they'd cut him anyway.
    Good for his pothead self.
    He's wasting his potential. This is the one that drew a ton of anger that I just didn't get. I was fascinated by one local host in DC that just went berzerk over this one.

    The only one that has any resonance with me is the team thing. If I am one of those roughly 75-90 people deeply involved with this team I just might want to hit the dude really, really hard.

    Everything else I put under the category of "get yours while you can".
