That is surprising. I wonder if he requested to be released or if Fox just was not impressed with him.

I don't like it. Whether the team felt he was the solution or not, Huntley was a more than adequate backup and we had a good situation at RB short term. Now we're forced to draft a back and forego corner until the 3rd where value is bad, or wait until the 3rd for a back and expect that 3rd round value in a corner will be enough long term.

I agree the best move they coulda made was to keep Huntly and Drafted DE, CB, DT in that order then wait till next year to pick up a back

Huntley cost about the same on the cap as Smith. Boudreaux likes Smith, and the staff didn't see Huntley as the LT solution, just as Smith. Why have 2 backs that aren't here for the future?
They opted for Smith over Huntley.
RB WILL BE ADDRESSED DAY ONE, just as Fox said in the observer.
I want Duckett. Lord make it happen. If we can't get a good corner in the draft, go with Eric Davis.

Now I don't see a real #2 back on this team. RB just became a glaring need!

While I was surprised to hear about Huntley at first......now that I think about it, maybe it isn't so surprising. Huntley spent a good bit of last season in Seifert's doghouse. Heck his hamstring took longer than any other in history to heal. 
I don't know if Huntley is too dumb to pick up an offense or has a bad attitude but there has to be something wrong there. They signed Smith (as well as Montgomery) so Huntley was expendable.

Seriously. That was the way to go IMO. We could wait a year for RB, and despite my want for DT I was willing to put those two along with playmaking LB in the hat for next year. Now we'll have to take CB yet again next year because I don't know that a 3rd round pick will scratch the itch.

Glad to see Huntley and his me first attitude gone, I do wish however it was done after the draft though so the pressure to take a RB in the 1st (bad move IMHO) or the 2nd(Lord not Foster). when we could be stacking the D with Peppers or Jammer then Weaver in the 2nd.
