Yeah, their defense was great that season. It fell apart last season.

In 2009 the Lions gave up 232 more points than they scored. In 2010 after drafting Suh, they gave up 7 more points than they scored. In 2008 the Packers gave up 380 points overall and only scored 39 more than they allowed. In 2009 after drafting Raji, they gave up 297 points overall and scored 164 more than they allowed. In 2010 with Raji, they gave up 240 points overall and scored 148 more than they allowed. Or put another way, the Packers went from 22nd in points and 20th in yards in 2008 to 7th & 2nd in 2009 and then 2nd & 5th in 2010. They did bottom out in 2011, but a lot of that had to do with scoring too quickly and putting the defense back out on the field, as they still allowed a staggering 201 points fewer than they scored.

I just don't see how this team can take a DT above CB unless there is just nothing there, and in that case I would be in favor of trading the pick.

Oh, btw, sounds like Gamble may be headed to IR, more info coming out tomorrow.

A truly dominant DT is probably the rarest and most valuable piece for a defense. Shutdown corners can only cover one guy.

Watched Star playing last week for Utah.

He seems to be the concensus best DT in the country. I guess the other guy from Ohio can give him a run for his money.

He got doubled and even triple teamed in that game. But in all honesty I dont see the relentless motor in the JJ Watt mold people would like to see.

If we could somehow parlay a very high pick into say him and Amerson that would be a nice start to finally addressing some glaring needs a few years too late.

I dont really see a top 10 pick at CR tho.

Montgomery wouldnt be a terrible option at DE, Mingo looks more like a 3-4 OLB than a DE, shame Clowney is a Soph.

Or we could go full hurney and draft my favorite player Manti Te'o.
