Legal XP Pro and Office XP? Doubtful at that price - that's $150+ OS, $200+ for the Office... It's one thing to pirate, another thing to SELL pirated stuff :nono:.

That's definitely what I'd recommend. If you have a name brand PC, you can look up the RAM it needs on crucial.com, and they ship worldwide. But you can likely just buy something from a local store and have your little boy toy do the install for you (it's SUPER easy, but stuff happens, better to have someone with you the first time if you're nervous).

And FYI: 63MB of RAM is just a BIOS thing. Used to see systems with 15MB of RAM and stuff all the time back in the day. Old OS + Old BIOS = somewhat strange numbers sometimes. It definitely could be an onboard video card stealing 1MB of RAM, but I doubt it. You are probably fine as is, at least as fine as you were before the broadband stuff came into the picture. More memory is always good, but on an ancient box, save your pennies and buy new later. And make sure you get some firewall/AV stuff going on before you go broadband...

interesting. i had no idea that onboard video ram was allocated like that (to oboard video boards). that explaines why a 512mb stick of 2700 in an nforce board says it's 448mb... i've always avoided onboard video cards.

hg, you might just go with it. 63mb will probably work for you assuming the install doesn't do some verification...

The nforce2's onboard video is roughly equivalent to a GeForce4 MX 200's performance (when dual channel is enambled by having identical sticks of ram in the proper bays). That is to say, you can actually play some/most modern games with it.

My brother has an NForce2 board w/ 512 ram (2x256) & an athlon xp 2600+. He uses the onboard video and plays BF Vietnam with it, and the performance suprisingly isn't that bad.
