Are you fucking kidding? 4 mil for him? I'd've given him away for a mil a year. Didn't need a poison pill, I wanted the third. Thanks for the service, Ricky. Sad to see you go. But start packing. I would be violently fucking enraged if we matched that.

Heck if Chicago wanted to make it rich enough to keep the Panthers from matching they could have offered 1/3 that figure.

Those numbers made my eyes bug out. I sure didn't expect that for Manning.

I find myself wondering how much Steve Smith has to do with this. The Bears might still be smarting from the spanking Smith gave them in the playoffs. Maybe they believe getting Manning will give them some kind of edge they can use if they have to face him again.

It really is a bit odd. I mean the Panthers had a former starter availble is Manning left. At best Manning was going to sign his tender and be here 1 more year and then gone. Had that happen the Panthers get nothing. In this case there's at the least a first day pick. 1st day picks can easily develop in to 1st year starters and are easily contributors. (Unless of course the pick is a bust.) But if he's anything worth a damn he's here at least 2 years longer than Manning would have been here.
