question about sweet tea

why go through all that trouble of boiling water, putting in just the right amount of sugar, etc., etc., when there are a shitload of mixes out there: lipton, nestea, cryztal light and whatthefucknot. wouldn't it be easier just to put mix in a pitcher and add cold water.

Hate is such a strong word. I would probably just shake my head and think to myself what a nit-wit you are for going through all the trouble.

BTW: Lipton makes a cold brew tea where you just put the bag in cold water and in five minutes or so you have tea (the good unsweetened kind, not that sugary swill). It comes in single-serving or full pitcher sizes.

 

i have used that often. i do boil water and brew tea but i do not put 6 cups of suger per gallon like those southerners do.

7 teabags
1 gallon boiling water
steep for a few hours
3/4 cup of sugar
stir and chill

I boil a small pot of water, throw in two family size teabags. Let it steep for half an hour or so. Dump three mother fuckin' quarters of a cup of sugar up in there, then fill the rest of the gallon with fresh, cold, filtered water and stir.

 

Preach it.
