I have 4 different programs on my computer that I can use to transfer pics from camera to computer: Adobe Photoshop Starter Edition, Sony Picture Utility (came with my camera), HP Photosmart (came with my printer), & Microsoft Digital Imaging (came on the computer). That's cool--I'm still playing with them to see what I like best for different tasks. What bugs me is that whenever I hook up the camera to upload pics, ALL of these programs open.

And believe me, I need no such help to become confused. I can do that fine on my own.

I've tried various things to find some way to set up only one of these as a default for that task--but can't find a way to do it. Any suggestions?

I've also found that since I installed Photoshop, that's the program that's automatically used to open photo files now instead of the Windows Media Viewer. I can still use other programs to open those files with some extra steps, but I'd like to find out how to reset the WMV as the default for that.

    Thanks y'all

If it were me I would turn off the ones I don`t want in the startup window. Here is a link that should describe what I`m talking about. These programs you`re talking about are probably starting up when you turn on your computer. This window gives you the control to have them not start up, but you can still click on your desktop icons to start them whenever you want.

i use lightroom and iphoto, but i'm on a mac.

you'll want something that allows you to keyword and rate/flag/classify your images so you can search your files.

I use Photoshop Elements for both editing and organizing (what Larry's describing). For ~$70 it does all you'll ever need, and the organizer tool is quick, easy and effective.
