Geez... Reed has all but lost all of his credibility. I like this Gantt article about it.

And this response is the primary driver for those writers, don't take them so seriously.

Let's see. Harrington had 3 number #1 draft picks at WR along with a couple proven vets like Hakim and Chambers, not to mention a very decent RB in Detroit and a #1 draft pick RB in Miami. The lines may not have been great, but they were much better than Houstons.

Carr hasn't had anything resembling and offense around him ever, not to mention the coaching changes.

His point is that there are clear opportunities to start out there. So why are a couple of QB's who have started, are still relatively young, and are believed to still have decent potential be looking at the Panthers when it has been clearly stated Delhomme is the starter? He's just speculating on why they would look here before exhausting the options for teams with starting opportunities. Just a pondering piece during a slow time of the year.

It's not simply that they are unemployed, somebody looking for a job usually looks for the best situation they can, not start with the lesser one. And as players that assumedly believe they are starter quality, why would they consider a backup spot while there are still teams that need potential starters out there. That's all he's asking...and speculating that perhaps they were told something behind the scenes. He also gave legitimate reasons for that speculation; Jake's thumb, change in OC, and the fact Jake's coming off his worst year with the Panthers thus far.

Nowhere did he say they WERE told anything, or that they Would replace Jake, just speculation. So I don't get the negativity about the article. Agree or disagree, it is a point to consider. Heck, I've seen other fans say that if Carr is looking at the B/U job in Carolina, then they didn't want him anyway because it shows a lack of competative fire. So it is a relevant discussion.

I'd argue that the Texans had a better receiver and they definitely had a better running back.

Dominick Davis and Andre Johnson are much better than anyone in a Detroit uniform. :twocents:

I like Carr better, but only one of those WR has even shown a glimmer of becoming a player.

I'd rather have Carr but I definately don't think Detroit had better players. They were drafted high but they sucked. Johnson and Williams (Davis) are better than anything Detroit had.

Detroit sucked, Harrington didn't help. Didn't Garcia suck in detroit?
