I don't believe he is under contract for next year.

Fox never switched back to Rodney Peete as the starter after Jake has a great second half against the Jags. Surely Moore putting up three really good games in a row at the end of the season earned him the starting gig.

The really sad part is, I think he does something freaky like take the Panthers to the Super Bowl and then bolts. Simply for the fact of saying FU to the organization for this year.

I don't know that Delhomme lost the locker room. He lost his shit on the field, but it's mostly a matter of inconsistency. He had two great games before a bad one and then a terrible one. It's mostly that the bad was that bad.

At any rate, I think people would be behind him if he was the one they'd get behind. I'd prefer it not to be an option, though. At the least, I'd prefer that Moore get the first shot to lose the job.

Still, my concerns of Moore not having won a single competition here also concerns that he'll once again start slow out of the gate and we'll have to put the better performing QB in - which won't be Moore at that point.

I get your point about him not winning a competition and he certain has not done that. The thing is though that Fox really does not let the backup win a competition in training camp anyway. Jake and Weinkie both clearly outplayed Peete in the 2003 preseason but Peete still started game one. If the running game and defense has carried us that day who knows how much longer Peete would have started while Jake sat on the bench.
