Brunell even being there in the first place is enough to justify questioning of Joe G's wisdom.

EDIT: okay, I know that was probably harsh but somehow I have trouble w/ wise and Brunell in the same sentence.

Early word on him outta Green Bay say he's had a LOT of trouble in minicamp. Way more than the team expected him to.

Rodgers will be like Brian Greise. The shoes are too big to fill there, he'll move on somewhere else after his rookie contract is up, and be average. The pressure of the GB fans and following a legend will be too much. A few years after Favre will be when GB finds their long-term QB.

that's great, one play (the "trick" play that the rest of the league calls a "slant") doesn't make an offense. Lefors had good accuracy in college, but he's not going to have open receivers every play here.

They're keeping him as a begrudging necessity, just to attempt to salvage the last hopes that he'd be worth anywhere near what they paid him.

Still think Jacksonville would've just cut him anyway, and he never would've gotten that contract with another team. The Skins are a revolving QB joke.

I think LeFors might be one of those rare guys that will be tried at other positions, like FS where he played in high school. He is very athletic.

i must be confused on which play you are discussing. i thought on that play he broke out like he was running a long out pattern and then cut it back to the middle (and the QB taking a hard look to the other side of the field before coming to that side. the route took a long time to run and it looked to me like it was designed to confuse a zone, and in particular the safety who thought he was releasing him to the corner on an out pattern. i figured it was a play that resulted from them (and the Bengals?) noticing something about how the Rams ran their zones that made them susceptible to the play.

the same play, yes. Broke to the middle, at about fifteen yards. There was a stutter move to fake an out, but it's still just a slant.

Regardless, semantics are washing away the basic ideals. Other than the short stuff to Smith, we don't throw that much that creates/represents a wide open receiver. Lefors is considered tremendously accurate, and that's probably his best attribute. The problem is, accuracy at this level is tied to things that are more critical at this level - his height causing vision problems...which causes him to throw in a moving pocket more, where he tends to lose velocity. He doesn't force the ball, but he's never had to, so it's hard to say if he can be truly pinpoint accurate when he needs.

That said, he's a lot better prospect than Fasani, in that he's tough, he's football-smart, and doesn't look to run/isn't horribly inaccurate outside the pocket. But I dunno if his deep arm will be enough, all the same. He's a great story, and certainly hope he's incredible if we need him. At any rate, he should be a good solid backup, a smart guy who is as likely to coach as anyone on this roster; a guy who tries his ass off and therefore people will cling to him. Maybe even to the point that I'm sure one day people will cleave off Jake after a few mistakes, which would be unfortunate.

Rodgers is in a great position in my book. He can learn from one of the all time greats for a year or two and then take over an offense that has been productive for many years and still has some good components in place. Granted if Javon Walker leaves or Ahman Green wears out things look different.

obviously it's tuff to discuss a guy we haven't seen against nfl players but i was thinking his best attribute was that he has "it." if like Jake, he can show he can get the job done (which means to simply win games) despite not having a cannon or the desired height, the guy mite develop into another jake.

i saw some balls on his clip that were put into some pretty tight spaces and, like jake all too often, thrown from some pretty tuff positions. whether he can do that eventually in the pros of course remains to be seen.

how soon we forget. ;) last year about midway thru the season when Jake floated some balls high, we had some here dreaming of using our first pick in the draft on a QB.
