PS2 or Xbox?

I have a Nintendo 64, which I just can not get into. I also still have a couple of Sage Genisis' consoles with lots of games. I see a yard sale in my future. If anybody is interested, let me know. Anyway, I'm probably going to go with a PS2 here in a few weeks, but I keep hearing about the Xbox. Is it really that great? I'm not into all those XMEN type stuff, just sports stuff.

I dunno who makes the best sports games, but I know SEGA has switched over to a software-only model. They're making games for both PS2 and XBOX. I think XBOX is a better system technologically, but there's no overlooking the games available on PS2. I think the best way to appoach the decision is to find the games you want to play and buy the system that plays them -- seems obvious, but not many people do this. Since you know what you like, your choice should be clear. The tough part is actually playing the games enough to decide you like them.

My friend belongs to this thing called Red Octane. He pays a monthly charge and he can rent any two games for as long as he wants. When he's done, he simply sends them back and they send him a new one that's in his queue. It's pretty cool cuz I find I only play console games for a few weeks before I get sick of them. Sometimes even only a couple days. I wish they did the same thing for the consoles themselves.

ps2

okay my son and my hubby are video game nuts!

they have a shit load and went with getting the ps2 when it first came out they love it , but they want the Xbox now.
they say it has GREAT graphics!

mike(the hubby) says the Xbox is like playing on a good computer and sports games are GREAT on it!

also they say the game cube is good, but not as good as the Xbox

okay mike just said the good thing about sony is that if your puter has a c.d. burner you can copy rented games (shh) don't get caught lmao. that is if you get the chip for $19.95 and have it installed into your game system. around here some of the t.v. repair shops install it for $12. we have sony 1 and 2 and we have a shit load of games for them already!

I know I'm late but...

All systems have strengths and weaknesses.

PS2:

Pro: Great libary of games, great games on the way, and plays old PSX games.

Con: Its the weakest system on the market.

X-Box:

Pro: Most advanced of the 3 systems out, most of the games are VERY pretty.

Con: Very few "exclusive" games (meaning most are availble on other systems), huge controller and system.

Gamecube:

Pro: Great line up of games (Mario, Zelda, Metriod, Star Fox, Resident Evil), and VERY small console.

Cons: Nintendo's "kiddy" image, the games seem to take longer to develope so they don't come out as quick as the PS2 and X-Box.

Your best bet is to just play all 3 and decide from there.

I've heard with a possible price war, Gamecube may not survive. You know how MS can be about eliminating competition. Sony ain't going nowhere, tho.

and the sony games last, unlike nintendo. they seem to wearout
faster

Price war? The GC is already $100 cheaper than both the X-Box and PS2.

Nintendo's games not last as long as Sony's? What the fuck you talking about? This isn't 1990 with NES carts. All my SNES carts work like new, as do my Gameboy carts, and my N64 carts. However the Gamecube uses mini-DVD's now, so they can't wear out.
