I don't even think it's a matter of us thinking he has nothing left to give. It's just like I said before the year, we can't find someone to come in and compete or replace Colbert with Proehl here. They like Carter too much, and a guy who'd have to compete wouldn't want to get kicked to 4th receiver if they didn't start. We're probably as good at 3rd receiver now as we were, depending on whether Colbert can regain some consistency, and certainly better at 2nd receiver. Comes at a price, but it's not like Proehl was legendary.

Not really. 2005 was his career high for yards per catch avg., and he only caught two less balls than he did in 2003.

I almost makes you want to kick Colbert to the curb and bring back Proehl. I know you can not do that given the age of the two guys but it is tempting.

I think the team would love him back, but how to you bring in a guy like Proehl who has done what he has for the team and then face the possibility of cutting him in or after camp?

And he must REALLY want to play - living in G'boro and working in Charlotte ain't so bad, but G'boro to NE?!?!?! I know the team travels a lot, but with Charlotte, he was close to home most of the time.

The Panthers must have the most sentimental fans in the NFL.

white guys from NC are like gold. Black guys apparently aren't, because Julius has been in the papers statewide since his Jr. year but last year's All-Pro season and third (?) Pro Bowl "wasn't good enough". But if you're white and went to HS and college here, you're HoF.

Overgeneralizing, sure, and I don't want to take away from what Proehl did, but damn

That does surprise me, i just thought he dissapeared early on. Thought he would have been more promenant with Colbert struggling and he wasnt.

But he was the one that stepped up when we were trying to knock ourselves out late in the season.
