I hope he gets the job. He was one of my favorite players.

If he wants to get a start in coaching, hire him to assist the WR coach. Most guys have to prove they can coach, put the work in.

that's a great reason to hire him. I mean, it shouldn't matter if he can actually....you know....coach.

I doubt he would take it. He has a better situation where he is now than that. He can work with a lot more players without the grind of day to day NFL game planning.

He doesn't need our job then. Work isn't conditional in the NFL.

That's a constructive comment right there. Why do you feel the need to be an asshole?

Things I know RP knows better than most

Route running: Slow and smallish, he perfected route running to stay in the league.

Conditioning: He had to stay in maximal condition at his age with his limitations late in his career.

Timing: For years he was a part of the "Greatest Show on Turf", a passing attack based on timing.

Doesn't mean he can coach, but he has some good personal experience and seems to know how to get the most out of at least one WR with marginal athleticism and natural ability.

Because being a fan favorite should not be part of the hiring criteria. If the guy can coach, bring it on. But if not, no thanks. We have too many young guys at the position to take a chance on a guy that 'maybe can coach because he made some big plays'.
