Pro vs Joe

Below are 2 sets of pictures - taken the same night, in the same bar, of the same people. One set was taken by a pro (although obviously not Top Teir) and the other set was by me. Am I getting close to what she's doing? Can you tell which is which? Are they both crap?

It should be noted that the equipment was much the same too - she was using a Rebel XT and i was using an XTi, both with the built in flash (I still dont feel comfortable using my 430EX in public - draws too much attention). I'm not certain which lens she was using, i was using my 50mm.

i like the bottom pics. the top ones look way too dark -- they say "cheap bar" to me. the 2nd group looks like it was shot at a totally different location -- like a theater or something. granted, the subjects don't pop as much, but i'd rather have color than blackness.

 

The chick in the 1st pic in each set, far left is cute. The rest are nothing to write home about.
