The Chargers have wide receiver and special teams standout Kassim Osgood on the trading block.

The team is reportedly hoping some team will offer a late-round pick. Osgood has been frustrated with a lack of playing time at receiver but has excelled on special teams, making the Pro Bowl after the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Late rounder for a Pro bowl S/T and 6'5" WR

Better than drafting an unproven player

So we get him and who leaves at WR? Does this mean KR/PR is all on the 3rd RB? Where do we even fit him in for his request for time on offense when we already have Jarrett and Robinson (who came on the field before Jarrett two years ago) fighting for 3rd WR duties? I doubt they even add a WR except maybe a late round guy with some return ability.

I assumed that Robinson would pick up returinging punts. Is this not right?

    May not be needed.
But a pro Bowl S/T who at 6'5" would be a nice target in Red Zone

Agreed Jarrett,Robinson,Carter need playing time, but someone needs to step up Moose want be here for ever .

anywhere I lay my head I'm gonna call my home
tough-nosed receivers who play special teams well are kinda neat.

But yeah, no room. And no way we trade for a WR who can't return kicks. Or for one who can.

And while I'm tense that we don't have much special teams on roster right now (Seward gone, Curry FA, Goings cut, lost a returner, still haven't signed the longsnapper), we're going to be adding some youth at CB, probably at LB, will get Connor back. There's room for some youth to grow into the roles of the 7-8 year vets running down kicks.

As for WR - Jarrett has this year and 2010. Moose does just have this year, sure. He looks like he still has time, and I'm really not that worried about the one year for Jarrett to prove himself if it comes to that. But you don't trade a draft pick right now hoping that two years from now you get a player.

I guess we will probably lose Marshall on s/t as well since he will most likely be starting now.

We might not need him at receiver, but I'd do it in a heartbeat. Like skull said at the top, you're giving up a late round pick. Late round picks are unlikely to make the team anyway. And with Osgood on the team, we'd have someone who can take over Marshall's ST responsibilities if he becomes a starter at corner.

Doubt he'd be any happier not playing WR here.
