    Do you drink? If not, do you see the purpose in it?
    Do you exercise? If not, do you see the purpose in it?
    Do you eat sweets? If not, do you see the purpose in it?

    There are lots of things that can be bad if you do them to excess.

    Some studies have shown that porn/masturbation/fantasy is as addicting as heroin. I'm sure there are recreational heroin users who aren't addicts (yet), but I'm betting that over the long run, they are the minority.

    What I'm betting is that broad brush strokes aren't any better for religious discussions than they are over in NOTD.

    Of course it is not ok to second guess direct quotes. I just think it is easier to live by a commandment if you can rationalize the reason for it. I know you can not always do that but if you can it helps.
