Please, could someone help me with this.

A few days ago, I was encouraged to download a game, which I didn't successfully complete and long story short - just ended up deleting...or so I thought. Ever since then, I've had this wee pop up blocker thingy, which appears to have installed itself. This is fine, but it also restricts my ability to open windows seperately and generally, it's a pain in the arse.

I've gone and been all IT like and looked at the Control Panel. I can't see anything specifically on the Add / Remove programmes (except an Arabic language helper :wtf23: ), and I am now starting to wonder if I'll ever seek and find this bloody programme.

Suggestions appreciated - and thank you in advance :).

    That sucks HG.

Let me explain what happened - your friend brought along an installable copy of himself and hid somewhere else on your PC under a fake name. When Brain's program uninstalled the pop up blocker, it sent a message to its friend to reinstall itself the next time you started up your PC.

There are two things you can do here:

    1. Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and bring up your windows task manager. Click on the processes tab and write down everything that appears there and post it for the geek squad here. We'll figure out which one of 'em doesnt belong & how to fix it.

    2. Download a program called HIJACK THIS! (google it) and run it. Post the log it creates here.

Either way, once we find out which application it is, we can find a way to remove it with Google.

    Hope that helps.

no I don't like that program at all.

Personally I use CounterSpy, but it costs. While I didn't exactly pay for it, I can't recommend it to other due to that. On the PCs I at work I use Adaware to clean, (Sometimes HiJack this when its BAD), and I stick the microsoft Antispyware on to help prevent future problems.

HG, Harry's right... gonna need to see what's under the hood.

Here's the file you need. Let me know if you don't have winzip to unzip it.

Honey, go back to the Ad-Aware and tell it to run a 'Full' scan. The default is a scan that isn't as thorough. And make sure the definitions are up to date.
