I thought about them and an argument could easily be made. I have been to a game there and that dome is loud. but it is a dome. they have been struggling for years to sell tickets to go see a pretty good football team.

Two others that come to mind are Buffalo and Cincinnati.

I don't know if the Saints are great fans but they are pretty damn good. Probably more fanatic than Carolina from my experience.

I can't possibly give you Miami, Oakland, San Fran, New Orleans, but the others could at least be debatable. I'm not talking ticket sales, or who has a terrible team, I'm talking atmosphere. Lets not kid ourselve, the reason the Panthers don't have trouble selling tickets is the corporate tickets. My buddy got into almost every game last year for around 10 bucks a ticket.

Oakland fans still support that POS pretty well considering.

I'm talking business / ticket sales only. Really all that matters, as the NFL is a business.

As far as NFL business, the Panthers are pretty damn good.

If you need to measure fan support some other way, I imagine they're not as good.

Let's face it, the truest measure of fan support in the NFL is a count of the number of really hot girls posting nude pictures of themselves on the local message board. And to REALLY be counted the have to show the machete gash. Jes sayin'.

If you are throwing out the most measurable point (ticket sales), then these are merely opinion and anyone can debate their opinion. I have been to games in every one of these stadiums, so here is my viewpoint.

miami - had a playoff game blacked out. that says enough. if you cant sell out a freaking playoff game, the fan base can't be that great.

Oakland - did you see some of their games? sure, the diehards were still there. but there were more seagulls in the stands during the panthers game than actual fans. Now that is a hell of an atmosphere. more seagulls = shitty fans. Right now, you can buy two lower level tickets on the 30 yard line for their home opener.

San Fran - bigger wine and cheese crowd than in Charlotte. Been there, done that. When they were winning super bowls, it was easy to be a 9ers fan. Where are all those bandwagoners now? probably Patriots fans.

New Orleans - please...i have been to several games there and until the last couple of years, it was a joke. on several occasions, i had people offer to GIVE me tickets if i would just use their shitty upper level seats. I would get a 50 yard line seat for 20 bucks or so. There was a reason that Tom Benson was looking at every opportunity to get out of his Super Dome lease so he could move the team. Post-Katrina they have done much better. But two or three years do not make their fans great.

I haven't been to a football game there but when I took a coworker from San Fran to a Panthers game he commented how everybody in clt was young and it was more like going to an upscale bar while at 49ers games it old grizled ugly people that scare you. Intersting to hear the opposite though.

It was an older crowd, but i wouldn't catagorize them as grizled or ugly. There was a lot of wine and clam chowder at their tailgates...that is for sure.
