Oh shut up magnus. Everyone knows you're just bitter that you were so WRONG about Smitty.

I remember when we drafted SMith and nearly everyone (including me)hated the pick and labeled him the worst pick of that draft. Things worked out pretty well I would say.

NFLN aired the edited version of this game last week. Even though they squeezed a 2OT playoff game into 60 minutes, it still rocked. Five years later, it's still one of the greatest games I've ever seen.

    A couple of observations:

    1) Smitty was a leader on this team even then.

    2) Foster was a hell of an explosive back that year.

    3) Peppers played with a butt load more intensity then than he has since.

Agree on Smitty. He had a very good year that year, but that playoff run is what made everyone understand what kind of player he was. Basically singlehandedly destroyed the Cowboys and then the play against the Rams.

He had his moments. The Colt game was big He and Davis were a nice counterbalance. But that line was awesome that year. I wonder what was in the water they were drinking? Oh yeah, nevermind.

    >>3) Peppers played with a butt load more intensity then than he has since.

Peppers had an active game, but look back at that season. He was the third guy, production wise, perhaps 4th at times. Jenks was the big monster, Rucker was a Pro Bowler, and Buckner was an emotional leader. Julius was the athletic freak who sometimes made an awesome play, but was still figuring things out. He really didn't hit his stride until the next season.
