not all his fault, but he did only have one well above average season.

Yeah, but that wasnt even a full season, a few games. Detmer even looked awesome over there before his horrific injury.

Certaintly not an unchallenged starter. But he won a few games at the end of the previous season that gave the team hope heading into the new year. But that team had other massive problems too, namely no RB, Oline, D and a FO that refused to commit dollars into the team. Now that they have a new stadium they're putting forth an effort that really began when they finally got a winning HC in Green.

Certaintly not, but when you remember a franchises best players you naturally remember their glory years. For us thats right now, Jakes led us to 2 NFCC games in his short tenure so far. Now, i know he didnt do it alone, but he is a strong leader and did provide a spark i dont think weve ever had before him.

No question that Jake's a leader and that he's done well overall for us, but it's foolish to throw around 2 NFCCGs as if that alone makes him a good or great quarterback. It doesn't. Whether or not he's a good or great quarterback makes him a good or great quarterback, and right now he's struggling with his accuracy. That's just a fact.

and certainly, "right now" doesn't make an entire career.

Sure, but CC was saying that we shouldn't criticize his performance now because of the past.

    true enough.
And you can always have a Shaun King who almost completely rode his teams to the playoffs. Jake's not that guy, and the performances he's put together have been as good as any. This is a rough patch, but the talk of replacement and "what now" are certainly reactionary. If the worst we get from him is 20/29 and a score, I'll take that.

Wrong. Saying they've been "as good as any" is a gross, gross overstatement.
Hopefully it's just temporary, but in any case, it's not improving. People speculated that things would be fixed when Smith returned, but it hasn't. He's still the absolute worst passer in the league on 3rd down right now, and that's not going to get it done.

I think our patchwork Oline getting teed off on 3rd downs might have something to do with those figures.

Were getting the line together, Jakes getting hit fewer (less fumbles), getting more time in the pocket (smarter decisions, less INTS), things are coming together slowly.

Jake was not to blame for all failed 11 3rd downs.

His playoff performances? yes, yes they have. His performances in playoff years? Yes, he's been very good, and his best year was in between those. It might be a gross, gross overstatement to you, but that's another subject entirely. That he's not playing incredible right now, but still gets it done in most phases? I'll still take it and look for better. If you don't take it, that's on you.
