I don't believe there's blame or credit that needs to be distributed. Guy drops a ball, he drops a ball. It assumes being catchable. That Jake could've looked better with the drops? Sure, doesn't make it happen, of course. With that, he was still rated in the 90s. I'll take it.
And then conversely in the "WRs make him better" ideal, I don't buy that either. He's supposed to get "help" from them. They're supposed to make the most possible yards out of the play. That Smitty is a well above average WR shouldn't take away from Jake's yards.

How about some praise for the Oline yet again. Good protection and no sacks i believe (Jakes slide shouldnt count).

Didnt even hear McGinists name been called all damn day.

Both Smitty and Key had some drops they dont usually make and Jake was still productive. Very solid if unspectacular performance.

Y'all are starting to sound like QB's are/should be infallible. look around the league, they all make bad throws every now and then. Learn to live with it, Jake will always sail a couple, try to do too much every now and then.
In return, well, weve got the best leader and QB weve ever had.

I was down on the first row during pregame warmup stuff. I noticed that while he and CW were passing to guys standing, and then running pass routes that CW was far more accurate and JD never hit in stride, nor the reciever in the chest while standing stationary 12 yards away. CW was hitting doods perfect in stride and hitting the stationary doods in the chest every throw consistently while JD was all over the place. It was kinda wierd.

EDIT: not only first row, but right where they were (Panthers). The pregame passing drills were 10-15 yards from me at most (25 at most when they moved to the middle of the field during 11 on 11.

It's not that, CelticCat. It's that Jake is much more inaccurate downfield than he has been, well, pretty much since he became the starter here. He continues to sail many passes, some of which the receivers leap to get and some of which they can't. A couple of easy drops hurt, certainly, but the main reason we're doing so poorly on 3rd down is Jake's inaccuracy. That's not going to cut it against Baltimore and Cincinnati. We need him to be better with his throws and to keep drives alive, although I will say that I'm fairly pleased with his decision-making now. If he could just get back to being fairly accurate, we'd be in really good shape.

And "the best QB we've ever had" still comes down to preference since there is no clear statistical advantage.

    Coach:
Thanks for the observation, that's really interesting.

They're still heavier. The colder weather makes the ball heavier. I was watching Kasay warm up for the second half. He had no where near the range he had in the 90 degree weather in TB.

Hopefully the weather in practice this week will be similar to what it is in Baltimore, so the guys can get used to it.

Bline was a tough SOB and all and that GB game is one of my fondest Panther memories but it never seemed like we had a winning season with him at the helm and in the end thats what its all about, W's.

What was the stat I saw? Over the last 3 years, the only QBs with a better record are Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

    Just win baby!

Thinking that quarterbacks alone determine wins is what prompted the lunacy of Miami trading a 2nd round pick for A.J. Feeley and some fans being infatuated with Josh McCown. Beuerlein had a losing record because our defense sucked King Kong's balls under Marshall, meanwhile Jay Fiedler had one of the highest winning percentages among active (or until this year anyway) quarterbacks.

And it also prompted Baltimore to dump Dilfer for more "attractive" prospects that bombed before the ineptitude of the Titans FO gave them a lifeline this year.

BTW, i think Culpeppers acquisition better fits your response with reguards to Miami. Feeley didnt do too much winning at all. He was a product of Philys system that Miami foolishly bought into (like we did of Denvers QB).

McCown never did see much winning either. But i think some fans, myself included did/do see some potential in McCowns, youth, mobility and arm.

Yeah, he did. He was traded right after he filled in for an injured McNabb and won all but one of those games.
He was being touted because he had a better record than Arizona's other QBs, which was complete coincidence. By all relevant measurements, McCown never should have been starting anywhere in the NFL.
