I don't know about that, today anyway. I'm not sure we aren't remembering him as being better than he was. He had many spectacularly good plays, but I don't remember any P. Manning type performances. Now the previous games, yes. He's been worse than he was before. But today at least it was close.

BTW, he is older. When does a QB usually hit his physical peak, throwing wise?

He did miss on a few. He overthrew Smith, who had two guys beaten on a fly route, and had some other high ones that could have been caught. He has been more conservative, though, and Collin already pointed out how it makes his completion % somewhat inflated. But I'll take those short passes over the ill-advised medium to long ones, especially when we're playing with a lead.

Conversely, his numbers would have looked better had Smitty and Keyshawn not had the drops.

His numbers also would have been better had he not sailed high on those throws.

Yeah. I would still consider a few of those very catchable for a Keyshawn and a Steve Smith, but they were higher than they probably needed to be.

catchable is catchable. These guys are Pro Bowl talent level, and everyone in the league has high balls.
That both of them had it is curious. Or related to the wetness, possibly, though fresh balls were going in all the time and none of them seemed to squirt out.

I realize that, but if you're going to throw the "well, the receivers made him look good when..." argument out there, you also need to consider the "well, the receivers made him look bad when..."

Without watching the tape, I can't say for all the incompletions, but I'd say one of Smitty's drops was not at all high and was a drop period - maybe a little fast and hard for as short a throw as it was, but very catchable. Ball was placed well - not high or low. Not saying Jake is a leading QB, but if you're placing "blame", it has to be equal when deserved.
