21 is incorrect. He had 31, and didnt participate full time in games.

Cooper had 51 as a full time starter.

BUt either way, Im not a Eugene Wilson fan....Im just making the point that the position couldve been upgraded, and were running out of options....that could certainly change.

Wilson is being used as a measuring stick against what we had last year, because he isnt regarded as being a very good FS...he's average, but when he started in years previous, he averaged close to 79 tackles a season. The guy we had last year, had his best year and couldnt crack 60.

Either way, youre sold on mediocrity, and thats fine. No biggie.

31 was a typo, but the per game average was not.

My point was there was not one safety on this year's open market that, in my opinion, truly commanded the dollar they sought. I agree, we can't go in hoping an unproven commodity will play well enough (Looks like it might be Teal, at this point--has potential, but that's not enough at this point).

It will be interesting. I was making the point that Eugene Wilson was not worth a sniff, given the fact that this team needs consistency at that position.

And I refuse to say that Cooper sucked last year. He was average, like our safeties usually are. He did what he was asked to do, and did it fairly well, considering the circumstances.

If smith would have thrown the ball to himself, and scored every damn touchdown we would have been in the super bowl. We should trade him for a 4th round pick.:lalala:

Anybody ever see what his signing bonus was?

Just curious. If that fucker doesn't buck up, it'd be funny if we cut him.

If he can't play a single down in pre-season due to a toe injury, how much can he actually help the team over a full season?

So exactly what is his injury?
    Turf toe or something else?
