minimum contract at end of last year

Who knows on Reed. After all, it's Reed. Of course, they could've said it, but I don't think it's much like Fox to make promises like that. I also don't know that they'd take a guy who, IMO, fits best in the slot, after hiring a guy like Moose that adds a lot on run downs, and just immediately set them in opposite roles.

Regardless, we improved there. There were a lot of whispers that the team would concentrate on the run game and leave the passing game lacking; I'd say they dispelled that rumor quickly, and apparently will get a lot younger in the run game.

I don't think it's a stretch that they told him that. It's a good way to get a guy signed.

Either way, I like it a lot better than Drew Carter.

This was a damn good deal for us. I'm telling y'all, this guy is a legitimate playmaker when he's healthy and he's only 26. He will give Moose all the competition he can handle for that #2 spot. In fact, I still believe he will win it in TC.

How can they reasonably 'promise' any position # to anybody signed before training camp? Especially a position with depth?

Of course, now that I think about it, they cn promise anything and if it doesn't materialize, they can blame it on the playr's productivity/health - or lack there of.

Well, I guess having a "homegrown", well-known and well-respected player on our team didn't hurt any. (By "homegrown", I mean Smitty, since we drafted him and we "raised" him from a little 3rd round seedling. :orangehat: )
