technically PFT was just passing along what Adam Sheftler reported so I believed it. They are good with passing along factual info reported by others. Its the bs like they tried to pull with Smith the other year that gives them a bad name.

Its funny that last year we cut Keyshawn because they said the wanted to get younger at the position. Now we bring in Moose and another vet who will undoubtedly cut into the young guys playing time. It def. helps us out. We have that legit 3rd WR option. Hopefully Jarret and Robinson impress enough to earn their own playing time.

This report is pretty wide spread now. I think this is awesome. I didn't want to spend another draft pick (wasted) on these kids coming out of college. Rookie wideouts almost fit the mold of QBs now in that the more they are hyped and the higher they are drafted, the worse they are. I'd much rather roll the dice on a FA WR.

The question now is where does Hackett fit in all of this and will he 1) pick up the play book quickly enough and 2) mesh with the offense--Jake in particular? In one offseason we have gone from a dog crap WR corps, save Smitty, to a talented, arguably one of the deepest groups in the league. All things assumed well going into final cuts, we may be looking to cut one, if not BOTH, of our picks (Robinson and/or Jarrett) form last year!

Two positions that will round out the offense is that coveted tackle in the draft and one more insurance HB.

neat. Will certainly make 3rd down easier. Glad it was for low money, because he's still risky. The competition will be interesting, but I see he and Muhammad essentially playing around the same number of snaps if both are healthy.

Why would we need to cut them? They are now back to the number they carried last season.

Not a member of the DJ Hackett fan club, but that's a good deal for us. Yeah, it'll probably be a #2 receiver-by-committee deal, just like it was with Colbert and Carter. Except Moose/Hackett/Jarrett >> Colbert and Carter.

It's not out of the question that one or two lesser names of the 10 or so WRs our roster bests out Robinson and potentially Jarrett. Jarrett rubs me the wrong way and seems like he has the work ethic of a 13-year old in regards to household chores. The recent arrest doesn't help his case either.

No way you cut a sophomore WR. I don't mind shelving Jarrett for another season, it might be good for him. He's younger than me, for Christ's sake.

yeah no real reason to cut anybody. Having a backup CB or RB that can do kicks may be important as now Robinson can't be guaranteed an active roster spot (though, with 3 WR of starting caliber, the idea of the 4th being a better WR isn't as big a concern).

Of course, if we do use spread over 35% of the time or so, keeping 5 WR active may not be the worst thing, it may be a priority. Situationally we would still need a speed player at times other than Smith, and IMO Robinson is a better receiver right now anyway.

Regardless, I like this a whole lot more than "man, we really need to hand Jarrett a starting spot and hope."
