Taking a few chances here. I like the chances for the defensive guys I picked to develop, and they would provide quality depth for the 3-4 front. Levis was a surprise faller, I was ready to gamble on Johnson but he got taken. Still, Dell is a nice deep threat who's super shifty. I don't know why LaPorta isn't higher on draft boards, and McBride would be a beast in a RBBC with Foreman or another power back.

Perfect draft if we could have swapped out an ILB for Carter. Word has it that he is not a physical specimen at all, miserable in all the testing. I was suprised. Benched like a CB, etc

He’s been doing Army strength and conditioning, which is not the same as NFL strength and conditioning.

The Armed Forces generally favor endurance and lean muscle over bulk and raw power. Their training includes shit where they go somewhere remote without a ton of food and wearing their soldiers down to the point where they begin to lose muscle because of a caloric deficit. There's lots of cardio and HIIT going on there. They would rather have soldiers who can do a forced march of 20 miles in full packs in five hours than guys who can push two plates up 15 times.

Granted, my source on that is fairly anecdotal--I have several family members who serve. And when I was in, we never touched the weight room during training. So maybe Carter is in a MOS where they spend time focusing on maximum power in short bursts. But I kind of doubt that.

He's in the academy they aren't doing field work very often and yes the military is very much moving to weight training- the new army PFT has a deadlift segment for goodness sakes.
