I'm totally unsure of what you're saying, other than telling us we might have to get rid of Moose to pay for Smith, even though that wouldn't be necessary. Part of the "team concept" and the idea of keeping the team intact, both things that seem to be tenets of the offseason, is to find ways to manage decent contracts, which all of these are. There's nothing exorbitantly outrageous about anything in this team salary situation other than that Muhammad's contract is about to end and that will leave a naturally high salary for that season. Remedy it and keep getting down the road.

 

I just keep coming back to the fact that Moose and Stues make too much doe. Keeping those 2 around at their current deal is gonna bite us in the ass sooner or later.

 

I would not mind restructuring Moose to a longer and more cap friendly deal. He does not deserve to be paid like a top receiver but he is still a quality starter.

 

How the hell is it gonna bite us in the ass when we have 12 million under the cap even considering Moose's pay? Not to mention the fact that we'll have 6 million free in 2005 if we do nothing at all with Moose. Sooner or later huh? What part of "one more year" don't you get?

It's not releasing him if his fucking contract expires...It would be cheaper in the long run to let this current contract play out and do a whole new deal than to extend this one. I want Moose to finish his career here, but we have to be fiscally responsible. This is the first time we've had the luxury of actually letting someone play out a big contract.

Football is an expensive business, I get the impression that you think we need to sign everyone's 3rd stringers for cheap. Even Kasay's contract is too much for you, when in reality he probably won't even see the last 3 years of it.
