    With all the talk of dumping Rivera at the end of the year and fewells name coming up what with our track record and Gettlemans history how does yesterdays ass whipping effect Fewells chances of getting the Panther job? If the Giants continue to struggle Fewell and other Giant coaches could be looking for any job much less a promotion.

    He was never a real consideration for Rivera's replacement.

    He didn't get the job over Rivera, why would we fall back on him now? No.

    There is a 2 time SB winner with a great career track record over there who would be looking as well.

    Coughlin's love of Gilbride makes this a hard sell for me.

    You aren't making the decision.

    I'm not advocating hiring. For that matter I am one of the very few who don't hate every move Rivera makes and I don't blame him for nearly everything bad that happens.

    I'm bring his name up because Gettleman seems to have great respect for Coughlin, and he and JR will be the ones hiring when that time comes.

    I know you're not stumping for him.

    I phrased my hard sell comment poorly so I'll say it this way: I would not be terribly excited, as a fan, about a Coughlin hiring.

    Didn't mean to be rude about it.

    As far as Coughlin and his coaching qualifications, I would feel better about him than a lot of names I've seen thrown out there. Practically all of them that I've seen, really. But I'd be concerned that he's getting too old to take on another HC gig.

    Coughlin has no interest in coaching anywhere else. Whenever his Giants' gig ends, he's done.
