He would help if he were still here but I still do not think he is worth the kind of money he is being paid now.

I doubt the Bears are going to make the playoffs with him on the roster so I see no reason to think we would either if he were here. We have a lot of issues on our defense but DE is not nearly the weakest spot.

Agreed that there are much bigger holes, but it would be a huge help if the defense had a second guy who could put pressure on the quarterback. Hardy does occasionally, but offenses know that the only guy they really have to worry about is Charles Johnson. It's not a coincidence that in the last three games since the bye week CJ has only 1 solo tackle and half a sack.

Two very good pass rushing DEs will make any defense better. Most teams do not have that luxury, even teams with good defenses. Peppers would make us better but I do not think it would be enough to cover up all the other problems with our defense.

I was hoping Hardy would have a break out year.......

Hardy has played quite well overall, but he was a 6th round pick for a reason. He's a nice backup but not someone the team should be counting on as a starter.

not sure they would have done that much differently honestly. It would've cost us a couple midrange FAs or Charles Johnson, possibly, if you subscribe to the idea of one highly paid rusher. He was likely the catalyst for the sweeping change, but without him, it would've probably happened anyway. We'd be about as talented, and we'd possibly have the same struggles.

Peppers hasn't blossomed like people thought in Chicago, or thought he could there. It's the same defense he was in the last year here so I don't know what people anticipated he could do. He's the same guy - occasionally magical, too easily blocked if you get your hands on him, incredibly athletic but not that strong for a 290 lb guy, and someone who might win a game for you a year based on a play no one else could make.

I get that the front office was tired of the headache, but they caused the headache.

He'll probably get in eventually, but it's borderline as to whether or not he deserves it.
