Is being an NFL ref still a part time job? if it is, that's the problem. These guys need to be putting as much attention to their job as the players and coaches do to theirs.

If nothing else, and I am not sure if it isn't, make it a reviewable play and have the determination made by someone other than the ref who threw the flag

Yep. He's a lawyer by trade.

I did a Google search on him to find the "Weinke"pedia (that's what my kids call it!) listing for him and I found this interesting tidbit on Hoculi:

I don't rmember him being suspended last season.

i don't think it's his fault, i think maybe the league needs to address what's reviewable... replay has dramatically improved over the years, and it'll continue to... those two plays just weren't reviewable

seeing it live at full speed, it looked like a helmet to helmet hit to me, and thats the call that was made, it just wasn't reviewable JMHFO

It's not consistent around the league, kind of like MLB's strike zone.

For example and btw, saw Briggs lead with his helmet at least twice last night, no flags.

Ed and his crew seem a little flag and whistle happy (didnt Jerry Jones make a similar comment). That was a pretty ticky tack call for a play that nulified a pick 6. But i dont think they were trying to single us out as i also thought ATL got a few shitty calls against them too.

They really seemed to slow the game down for calls that really shouldnt have been called. You've got to let them play a little, the ref is to keep order not to become the main villain. Cant help but think Hochuli has gotten a a little full of himself and his biceps. A suspension might help keep the whistle out of his lips.
