Why is it his cap number that's destructive? His cap hit was about 14 million last year. The cap went up 7-8 million this year but only half of that was used on his increase due to the tag. Who's eating up the rest of that?

other players, cap numbers go up as a contract goes on since most of the deals are backloaded.

contracts include a minimum salary based upon years vested (so many games a year count as a full year) so even the scrubs get a raise.

Peppers and his agent are trying to force the Panthers hand by not signing the tender. He won't sign until after the draft if he does at all. The Panthers should be in a worst case scenario be prepared to get nothing but a comp pick next year since that looks where this is headed. If he wants to hold out fine, let him. They should wait until after the preseason to cut him if they do, it'll cost him plenty of jack and pretty much screw the team that signs him for the year.

Patriots are looking at Jason Taylor. Would this pull them out of the sweepstakes?

Peppers = Lance Briggs. JR will not let him go. This is the best situation for him. Carolina was 1 shitty kick and one shitty QB performance from going to and Winning a Super Bowl.
