yeah, the more I hear about it, the more it just seems like a bitch move by mangini. He only got the Jets job due to his success with the patriots. He no doubt benefited from any spying that was going on at the time he was there. It only makes him look bad when he snitches out his former team that happens to own him more times than not. They even filed tampering charges against him last year. The jets would have lost regardless, and this deflects some attention away from that.

The patriots will still be the shit this year, while the jets will be lucky to even sniff the playoffs.

Peter King is going to be heartbroken. I'll bet he's crying somewhere right now.

Mangini wasn't the only or the first to complain to the league. I can't understand why anyone would want to make excuses for something like this. The League has a written rule about it, they warned all teams about it and the Pats got caught. What's the debate.

I don't think it's a huge deal but it happened and I can't figure out why people are now making excused for it by bringing the team that was the "victim" into the conversation.

The Packers, Lions and Ward Pittsburgh are also making comments about previous instances. If everyone is doing it I garuntee everyone would shut up now.

I don't know what Mangini has to do with the fact that this was going on against NFL rules.

Former Patriot Fauria knows nothing (wink)
    PAT YASINSKAS
    [email protected]

The newest member of the Carolina Panthers was more than a little worried Thursday about the two Super Bowl rings he won with the New England Patriots.

"Actually, I better go call my wife and tell her to put (them) in the safe," tight end Christian Fauria said with a laugh.

Fauria, who signed with the Panthers on Tuesday, spent most of his first meeting with the media laughing, winking and nodding as he was asked about the recent controversy where the Patriots have been accused of stealing signals from the other team by videotaping coaches. Fauria was with the Patriots when they won Super Bowls in the 2003 and '04 seasons.

"I'm all for doing what it takes to win," Fauria said. "If somebody's going to leave their playbook out in plain view, I'm going to look. If I'm on offense and I can pick up a defensive call, I'm going to tell the rest of the offense. As far as filming it? I don't know. I never saw it when I was there."

Fauria then began laughing. Without being asked another question, he continued his response, which included a few winks and nods

    "No, I didn't. I swear. I really didn't," Fauria said. "I swear I didn't. No, really, I didn't. No, I'm serious, I didn't."

The allegations might be a little more serious to some of Fauria's new teammates. Some sources within the team's Bank of America Stadium facilities said there were at very least rumblings that the Patriots might have filmed at least two of Carolina's practices in the week leading into the Super Bowl at the end of the 2003 season.

    But Fauria wasn't biting.

"I know nothing," he said. "All I know is there better not be an asterisk by any of the Super Bowls when I was with them."

According to ESPN... Fined $750,000 and if they make the playoffs they lose their 1st round pick in '08.

    Belichick Fined; Pats Lose Pick
Bill Belichick was hit with a $500,000 fine Thursday night -- the maximum allowable by NFL by-laws -- for violating the league's policy on videotaping the Jets defensive signs Sunday. In addition, Roger Goodell notified the Patriots that they would forfeit a 2008 first-round draft choice if they reach the playoffs, or second- and third-round picks if they do not qualify for the playoffs. The club was also fined $250,000.
