Yeah, seeing as they probably were already taking their cues from footage shot from a previous game. And it wouldn't really have to be shot from the sidelines to be instructive, so it could be from a Pats vs Team X matchup. They could even have guys on each side of a stadium getting footage of two division foes playing each other.

the latter part is very unlikely, as the Pats would not be granted on field camera access to say, a Jets-Miami game, although they would be allowed a seat in the press box for a scout.

and with that, why is it illegal to use a camera, when I assume a detailed employee could get the same information with a pen and paper?

I would guess it would be easier to view the signals off a TV (and tape), than interpreting the sketches of a coach/scout.

What stop a team from changing signals at the half. I heard-(heard)- that Spurrier has all 2-3 of his QBs sending signals with only one with correct play.

Film or not. Changing signals is pretty easy.

LOL..What are they going to have a court room artist draw quick sketches of the signals?

Yeah, it would be a piece of cake to change the signal for every defensive play every half of every game and teach the players how to interpret them efectively.

well we did invent a language of dots. all you'd have to do is write down is a description of what they do, it doesn't sound that hard really. You can even get a few employees to do it for more accuracy if you want. I just don't see how it's that hard of a thing to write down what you would see from a coach on the field.

Or you can use a camera and make it like a thousand times easier and more accurate.
