At best they go 8-8 with their remaining schedule and that won’t equal playoffs. At this point it’s a solid argument that the GOAT player is more impactful than the GOAT coach huh? I guessed wrong and assumed that the Pats would remain a contender even without Brady. Belichick is still the greatest coach in the history of the league and they would have at least two more W’s so far if not for pure player error. I know a lot of negatives have conspired against the pats but they were STILL in position to win games and it came down to cam blowing it.
I’ve heard it suggested that they will tank now to draft a top QB. .. not happening. Belichick would never tank. He will also probably never draft a QB in the first round. At some point this season he will give Stidham the keys, but in my opinion that isn’t tanking. Unlike brady, cam can’t lead the pats to wins all by himself. The talent to run for first downs and TDs is inferior to decision making and passing for them. .. there is plenty of proof of that. Now seems like a good time to test Stidham to see if he is a possible QB of the future, but nobody is going to be a Tom Brady. As much as I am compelled to be a Brady-Hater if he hasn’t earned the respect of every sports fan then nobody ever will. At least I can still deeply hate the pats and enjoy their ugly losing season.

    So 2020 ain’t ALL bad. )

Yeah, it takes a QB that can make good decisions and not one that just reacts to white board drawings.

They had some backbreaking covid opt-outs, particularly on defense, but it sort of proves that players win games, not coaches. Coaches are the GPS. The players drive the car.

If I'm the patriots I'm scouting every short stop currently in the minor leagues hoping to strike gold.

and if any team would “strike gold” it would be the pats.
Injuries and opt-outs aside, they always seem to win the lottery somehow.
BUT, maybe their deal with the devil expired this year
